We have a computerised appointment system. Appointments for both morning and afternoon can be booked in advance. If your need is urgent you should telephone the surgery at 8.30 a.m. and you will be fitted in on the same day.

If you cannot keep your appointment please let us know as soon as possible. Please remember each appointment is only for one person. Please do not let children under 12 years attend alone.

Home Visits

0845 337 0610

House calls or home visits are usually only required in exceptional cases - such as the terminally ill, truly housebound or genuine emergencies such as heart attacks. House calls should be requested before 10.00am, if possible. Remember the doctor can see four or five people in the Health Centre in the time it takes to do one house visit.

The call will be diverted to NHS 24 then onto Gmeds if necessary where you may be seen by a nurse or doctor at the Out of Hours service at Dr Grays Hospital.

Emergency Care Summary

This is a new way of sharing information about your health which might be important if you need urgent medical care when your GP surgery is closed. Your emergency care summary contains the following information:

  • Name, Date of Birth, indentifying number (called CHI number) and the name of your GP.
  • Any medicines which your GP has prescribed.
  • Any medicines you are allergic to or react badly to.

The information in your emergency care summary comes form your GP's computer and is stored centrally.

Prescriptions

Please allow a minimum of 2 working days before collecting your prescription from the practice (or 3 working days for collection at the chemist). This also applies to prescriptions requested by hospital Consultants. If they require you to start new medication urgently (within 2 days), they will either phone us in advance or issue you supplies at the hospital Clinic.

We do not take repeat prescription requests over the telephone.

Sick Notes

There are self-certificates in reception for you to sign yourself off sick from work for up to 7 days. If after 7 days you are still not fit to return to work, you must contact the surgery as you may need to make an appointment to see a GP.
